Owing to the Covid-19 Pandemic, many of those in the arts have struggled to stay afloat this year. With minimal funding and sparse opportunities for work available within the sector due to social distancing regulations at this time, it has never been harder to work in the arts.
However, if there is one thing that artists share, it is their unwavering passion for what they do, even in the face of adversity. Creative people will always find ways to create. It is with this in mind that Max Lewendel, Artistic Director of the Icarus Theatre Collective launched their Covid-19 Poetry Support series.
A limited web series, this project offered former collaborators of the Icarus Theatre Collective to record readings of their favourite poems to raise money for whatever cause they chose. Kaiden has elected to read his favourite poem, The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. This well-known poem is a melodramatic telling of a man tormented by thoughts and visions surrounding the death of his lover.
You can view Kaiden’s reading below:
The poem is free to view, but all donations are gratefully accepted. All money raised by Kaiden’s video will be donated to the Actors’ Benevolent Fund, a UK-based charity that offers actor and stage managers financial support at times of great struggle, such as poor health, such as now.
